The new Raleigh Durham Airport Authority (RDU) 600 million dollar Terminal C Expansion is the largest development program undertaken by the airport, and will expand the current facility built in 1987, by almost 900,000 square feet.

Acorn Industrial acted as both the Mechanical & Plumbing contractor for this project. Our scope of work involved the installation of 44 custom Air Handling Units, 13 Mechanical Equipment Rooms, and the installation of the Hydronic Heating and Chilled Water System, which includes over 13 miles of distribution piping.

The major features will include a new 300,000 square foot, two level North Concourse, a three-level basement processor building, expanded ticketing and security checkpoint areas, and a new federal inspection facility for international flights. The remodeled terminal will accommodate a 11 million passengers per year, and will feature 50 retail shops and restaurants.

The project began in January 2006, and the Phase I North Concourse is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2008, and the South Concourse and Central Atrium is scheduled for completion in the winter of 2010.
