In 2008, Acorn began what it intends to be an annual event: adopting a family in need for Christmas. In 2009, the Acorn family tradition continued with the "adoption" of a single mother and five small children, who had been living at a local rescue mission for some time after a difficult home situation.
They left with literally the clothes on their backs, and the children had very basic needs to be met; in particular, shoes. Acorn is extremely proud of the response of employees, subcontractors, and vendors to this holiday project, and the family was thrilled to receive many large plastic cartons filled with new, age-appropriate toys, clothes, food items, and - of course - new shoes.Acorn has been fortunate and appreciates all the opportunities that 2009 brought with it. It was a great feeling to be able to give a little of that back to a deserving family. The smiles on those 6 faces brought that home for all of us here at Acorn. We wish the family a prosperous 2010.
